Yesterday was a "social" day for me. I use quotes because although I am quite social on a daily basis online, I don't really have a lot of person to person contact on a regular basis. My interactions consists of the sparse morning (and evening) conversations with D, and basically anybody else Abe and I encounter along our daily walks. Once a month I have to go into the city to get my research drug for my arthritis. Before dog, I would spend the day in the city, doing any errands, hitting the bookstores, and visiting with friends. Since bringing Abe home and his penchant for "cleaning" out my pantry and basic unwillingness to be home alone longer than 5 hours, my trips have been cut short. Yesterday D spent the day dog sitting Abe while I went into the city. I got to get caught up with some of my favorite hospital staff (after a couple years of going in on a monthly basis, they do get to know you well) and paid a visit to Betz before she leaves town for a month.
Now what was different (in a delightful way) for me is that everyone I encountered stated I was looking THIN. Now I haven't seen Betz since August so I could understand the statement coming from her (particularly considering her fibro fog memory!) but the hospital crew I see monthly. My weight has only changed by 2 lbs since last month. Evidently the body has redistributed a bit since things are firming up (well as much as this broken body is capable of anyhow..lol). Betz tried to recall when she had seen me this thin since she has known me over 20 years. The reality is I haven't been this size since I was sharing a flat and clothes with Daniel - so almost 30 years. It made me smile to realize that I have come full circle back except that this time I am actually physically FIT, eating fantastic, and once again sharing a bed and clothes with a slender boy.
