Abe and I have continued our daily walks, hitting the beach when the low tide is at a decent hour, ie anytime other than 8am or after 4pm (I need light or I would kill myself on a log). It has been really cold for Washington. We currently are experiencing the longest cold stretch we have seen in over 20 years. It is beautiful at the beach this time of year but COLD, particularly when the wind is blasting across the sound. So I figured we will just dress appropriately for it. And what does the stylish Abe wear? I went searching for a coat that would be big enough for him since he is larger than the standard weimaraner. Dog coats are SPENDY but alas, I found a supplier on Ebay. I got my order in and received it. I put the coat on Abe and off we went. He looked all stylish. People stopped in their cars to comment. We get to the beach and off he goes to play. WHAT WAS I THINKING? Ghost dog in a camouflaged coat. He is the color of the sand and logs. The coat is the color of, oh EVERYTHING on the beach. What is his favorite game? Run ahead, hunker down between logs and SURPRISE attack! I could have gotten him the pink one but well he might have gotten grief by the rest of the dogs on the beach (and the construction guys would have laughed hysterically). Ditto on the purple. My son volunteered to paint ball splatter his coat with orange but wanted to make it more of a game, ie with Abe in it. That got vetoed. So I guess I shall look for another jacket and in the meantime we shall continue our daily version of where's waldo!
